Programs and Services

Philip M. Alberti, PhD


Dr. Alberti is the Director of Research and Evaluation at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's (DOHMH) Bronx District Public Health Office (DPHO) an office dedicated to promoting health equity between the South Bronx and the rest of New York City. As the Research Director, he designs and conducts investigations into the health needs of South Bronx residents, assists in the development of public health interventions and evaluates those programs to assess effectiveness. His current work focuses on teen pregnancy prevention, obesity prevention, and the promotion of physical activity and healthful eating. He received his doctorate in 2006 from Columbia University where he was trained in Psychiatric Epidemiology via a National Institute of Mental Health fellowship. Dr. Alberti also teaches epidemiology and research methods within the DOHMH and the City University of New York system.
